Device Monetization Recovery Process

Receive / Reconcile Incoming Inventory

Involves accepting and verifying the arrival of mobile devices. It includes checking the quantity and condition of the items against order records, reconciling any discrepancies, and updating inventory systems. This ensures accurate stock tracking and prepares devices for further processing or resale.

Data Wipe

Refers to the process of securely erasing all personal and sensitive information from a device, ensuring that it cannot be recovered. This step is essential for protecting user privacy and complying with data security standards before reselling or recycling a mobile device.

Inspection / Grade Devices

Involves thoroughly examining each mobile device to assess its condition, functionality, and appearance. Devices are checked for defects, damage, screen condition, battery health, and overall performance. Based on this evaluation, the device is assigned a grade (e.g., A, B, C) to determine its resale value or suitability for refurbishment. This step ensures accurate pricing and helps categorize devices for potential resale, recycling, or parts harvesting.

Functional Testing

The process of verifying that a mobile device operates correctly across all its essential functions. This includes testing the touchscreen, camera, buttons, speaker, microphone, sensors, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, charging port, and overall performance. The goal is to ensure the device is fully operational and free from any defects that would impact its usability. Functional testing is crucial for determining whether a device is fit for resale, refurbishment, or needs repair, and it helps maintain high quality standards for products being offered to customers.

Triage / Sanitize

Refers to the process of sorting and cleaning incoming devices based on their condition and needs. Triage involves quickly assessing whether the device requires minor repairs, data wiping, or can be directly resold. After triaging, the device is sanitized—both physically and digitally. This includes cleaning the exterior to remove dirt, grime, and potential germs, as well as securely wiping all personal data to protect user privacy. This step ensures that devices are both hygienic and secure, ready for resale, refurbishment, or recycling.

Ready for Remarketing

Refers to the final stage in the device processing workflow, where mobile devices are fully prepared for resale or repurposing. This step follows inspection, testing, triage, and sanitization, ensuring the devices meet quality standards. The devices are then packaged with all necessary accessories (e.g., chargers, manuals) and listed for sale in various channels, such as online marketplaces or retail stores. Devices marked as “ready for remarketing” are typically in good condition, fully functional, and securely wiped, making them suitable for resale at a competitive price, offering value to both businesses and consumers.
